Ravenstone Village Institute
Registered Charity No. 217951
The Village Institute in Ravenstone was built at the end of the First World War and will soon be celebrating its 100th anniversary. The building was used originally as a training and education centre for returning war service personnel.
Since this time the Institute has remained at the heart of village life and is currently used for many diverse activities. More recently the Hall has been comprehensively refurbished in two stages.
The facility is now managed by a group of volunteers “ The Trustees”. It is their responsibility to maintain the building in suitable condition for use by the community.
In 2009 the toilets were fully refurbished to include a disabled facility, all the windows were replaced and extensive works to restore the roof timbers and improve thermal efficiency were carried out. The roof above the servery area was also replaced at this time.
In 2014 the whole of the rear of the building was remodeled to accommodate a new kitchen, stage area and storage facility. A new heating boiler was installed and new point of use hot water systems fitted. The Hall was decorated throughout and the floor restored.
We are currently working on stage three and hope to carry out work to the exterior of the building including a new front porch, new soffits and guttering, additional rendering and decoration to improve the appearance of the building in this prominent location in our village
